Otis is MFH with the South Shropshire........only problem, he's a p##k. He's of the "don't you know who I am?!" type........bumped into him at a shooting ground, he was giving the staff in the shop hell because they wouldn't repair a rifle for him "ASAP".....

I agree, there are the few who openly support fieldsports, but the rest are too quiet, obviously trying not to upset the masses.

I think Noel Edmonds goes out with his local hunt, Madonna only plays at it though, she shoots just down the road from me sometimes, I'm sure it is only because she likes the tweeds !

I think more ought to be said about fieldsports on the weekend racing programmes, I bet the vast majority of the betting folk who watch it know toss all about racings hunting origins.

I thought Otis was ok, before he was Master he was at the Middleton, Yorks, one of my local hunts, he was whipper in, and Knackers man, he came, shot and took away a bullock with a broken leg, decent lad !

i always think that high profile jockeys should show more support for field sports, because without hunting they would not have horses to ride under rules.they are on telly every week so the ideal place to publicise field sports.

A few have come out in support of hunting in Ireland. There was a letter published recently from a jockey supporting the staghound packs that they were trying to ban.

I agree though, seeing as most of them learn their trade in one way or another around hunting and their mounts usually go at some point they could show more support.

i know 2 or 3 jockeys and rugby players who support hunting, but it would be maddness for these boys to through there names out so they can have every man and there family trying to catch them out na i dont think so edited to add all you lot saying celebs should come forward get a pic of your self and your name on computer whats good for the goose is good for the gander

There is a pic of me on the web in support of field sports, one here on my Avatar, on the CA website and on my own....... but my point is that the more the public see of people who support, participate and enjoy country sports, the better opinion they will form, and celebs, faces and names that people know and see in the media are one good way to make that happen.

so basically send them over the trenches first let them get harrassed and it will take the eye of the rest of us ,and sporting agent your full name is ?

Click on the link to eithr of my web sites and you'll find it. I don't think its particularly clever to highlight faults you think I'm (or others) are making by not openly supporting our sport or way of life, when like I've said my name and pic is easily seen on a number of sites that can be viewd by anyone.....

Click on my sites and you'll find out more about me than just my name; nothing I'm not happy with people knowing, but it will be certanly evident that I support field sports.

Your name??

Just visited your site TSA,.....Salmon fishing in Fort Wiiliam ay?,....Nice!! I will be in Laggan in a fortnights time enjoying the Mighty Spey!! ;)

Yep, I've got a mile of river up there; lovely part of the world.

The site is far from finished yet, but its getting there; just not enough time to do everything!!

As for this thread;

its been suggested that celebs might not want to publicly be associated with field sports for fear of reprisals or for fear of people peering to close to their private lives; and why should they publicly stand up if we as individuals are not prepared to do the same. For my part, I am, as are many I'm sure whe have marched etc. As mere mortals we are unlikely to get much in the way of individual media attention, and are not known to the population as a whole, but the likes of Jamie Oliver, and other are.........

..............what I was getting at was that there are a hand full of "famous" antis, we all (and the general public) know who they are and people hear what they say and listen to it. We as country sports fans also know of many many more people that are in sport or television who do support country sports yet these people, who may outnumber "famous antis" are much much more quiet about their support than the famed antis are.

I wanted to encourage a debate to see if poeple thought if these famous field sports fans were more outspoken would there be a benefit to the image of the countryside and field sports amongst the general public? More of an acceptance of it? I suspect there would be.

I think those that want to publicly support field sports do. I can understand why some people wouldn't want it to become public knowledge.

Personally i'm proud to hunt, its definately not something I hide and I think enough anti's have my mug on their cameras aswell as my numberplate and probably bra size.
