john debbage 0
don't want to rain on your parades lads, but haven't you read anything about not starting pups too young? God knows there's been enough posts on here about dogs that can't/won't pick up, pups injured or yapping. What your'e doing by lamping a pup of 7 months old is like asking a 10 year old lad to run along side Linford Christie: and catch him up!!! Think about it: your pups still have leg to grow: I'll bet they still have knobbly wrists on their front legs: those bits of bumpy bones are what has to grow out for the pup to reach its full height: if they run too hard before they're all growed out it is very easy to damage them. The other problem is that mentally they are not grown up either: keep running them on fast running rabbits and it will either put them off when they can't catch them, ruin their confidence or make them start yapping. Why not wait a couple more months until there is young rabbits running about that don't know the game. I know its not easy being patient especially if its your first lurcher, but please listen to those who have learned the hard way. I really don't want to see your pups advertised on here in a few months cos they're f*cked up or blown. wont be running mine till its a year old..........its 8 months now and still very immature........ leegreen 2,153
I have a Bull/Greyhound pup 17 weeks old and it caught a starter the other day while walking the dogs. I must say it got up about three feet from her and ran across her path. Although she is mature for her age I will not be running her untill next season, 10 months or more. She has also grabbed rats that the other dogs have crunched. I am also wary of this but she is so game its hard to stop. Quote Link to post
