bullmastiff 615
As above which cleaning kits have you used and would recommend or steer clear of, and what solvent for lead removal? (Butanone, Acetone, Tolulene etc) chemical names rather than Brand names would be helpful but not essential. At the moment I'm still using a steel (yes Steel!!!) rod and patches that came with the Relum!!! Quote Link to post
Coney 3
Well I can't speak for anyone else but I use a Logun cleaning kit, designed for use with .177 & .22 air rifles. Kit contains x2 memory flex cleaning rods, brass obstruction remover, "T" handle, bore cleaning fluid, small calibre cleaning patches, .177 & .22 bore brushes in a small handy carrying pouch and all for £20 quid. Hope this helps Coney. Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
Sounds a good deal, cheers Coney! Quote Link to post

stillair1 16
I use a plastic coated steel trace pull through, napier cloth and wd40. If you have plastic seals or o rings I would avoid the solvents you have listed, toluene being the most hazardous healthwise. Neil Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
Thank You Neil, We use loads of different Solvents at work, hence the reason for asking if any would work! Must admit I'd forgotten about the possible damage to 'O' rings so Thanks! Luke. Quote Link to post
stillair1 16
No problem Luke we use solvents at work to. Just did not want you sniffing the toluene if you did not know better. I'm sure some of the commercial brands have a xylene component e.g Hoppes BR by the niff. There's probably a msds on the web somewhere. Neil Edited March 7, 2008 by stillair1 Quote Link to post

We've got to use Vapour masks and Nitrile gloves when we use Toluene at work, although we use it conjuction with MEK for priming rubber so the gloves melt and the mask goes sticky!!!
