Ricky-N.p.p 0
hi folks I was chatting to a freind about resetting my larsson trap and he said that he read in the shooting times that all larson traps had to be numbered and the police notified of where the trap was and what its number was, now for the life of me i cant think of why the police would have to be notified but lets face it the labour government has done stranger things than this can anyone shed some light on this ??? regards rick Quote Link to post
larsen 0
Joined here originally to learn how to best set a larsen trap, don't recall anyone mentioning anything like this though. I'm sure someone far better qualified people than myself will give you a better answer. Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
I strongly suspect, Rick, that that's a 'Chinese Whisper'; Up shot of someone hearing, from someone who Knew someone who read something in the comics about the Snares in Scotland thing. john b 38
I've not heard this either I can't find any mention of it on the BASC site, the GCT site or Natural England. Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
There has been talk of introducing a numbering system for Larsen for ages, but as yet, as far as i'm aware, there is NO legal requirement to do so. Rolfe. Quote Link to post

talpa 55
Hi, the current general licences in Scotland are valid up to 31st March. Then new ones will be in place from 1st April Apparent changes are traps having a sign/tag with operators number on , passing your number to the Police before you use it. Don't know about telling of locations but it would seem a good idea to do risk assesments/environmental assessments listing positions as good pesties do with poison bait points. You must show you have considered other methods of non lethal control (scaring) too, and most importantly you must be able to show that you have read and understand the general licence that you are operating under, something that currently people do not appreciate the conditions and reasons for control of pest species as listed on the particular licences, which now vary with the control criteria. Keep an eye open here - http://www.scottishexecutive.gov.uk/Topics...l-licences-list at the moment it still shows the licences for 1st Jan 08 - 31st March 08 I have not seen the actual licence but BASC had a mention in Shooting and Conservation. Some people will get caught out for not knowing the detail I'm sure. Other UK devolved areas are as 2007 with small wording changes for England. Pest controllers undertaking work particularly with Gulls need to be sure they have their reasons for control and which of the licences they are working to. Opponents to our work will often know the letter of the law far better than the average pestie or keeper. If you state to the wrong person that the pest birds are a nuisance or hassle and that is why you do what you do it will see you in court for wildlife crime, which will in the future prevent you from following your vocation if the licensing details continue on the current path. For your own and the sake and that of the future of Keepering and Pest control keep up to date or we will lose more tools of the trade. Regards Talpa Quote Link to post
