gnasher16 30,118
If you think tyson would have beat lewis in this lifetime or any other id make you wrong....remember tyson didnt become a cur....he was born one ! it was just never exposed until he met vaguely decent opponents.... Didn't think it would take long for Reg Gutteridge to take the bait .... Take a chill pill gnasher and realise people in this world all have different opinions! some right some wrong..... so you set bait to have a debate ? well it takes all sorts i suppose....theres no right and wrong in any opinion mate, thats why its called an opinion and not a fact...if thats your opinion fine but at least have a reason for it other than being another tyson hero worshipper ! gnasher16 30,118
[! Nope I worshiped this guy!! no one had heard of him but wasn't he one of the guys to drop lewis when lewis was peaking at his best ..... worshipped hassim rachman ? wow never heard anyone say that before....i think the rematch proved a more realistic result, but hey i never said lewis was unbeatable.....if i remember right that loss came when lewis was doing the acting bit,but no excuses he got caught.....at heavyweight 1 correct punch can be lights out for even the best...but i still make that an easier loss to take than quitting because you know you cant intimidate someone like tyson did...again,only an opinion. jasper65 6
I'm just winding up mate nothing seriouse . I can see all points of view and I wasn't a Tyson fanatic I worshiped Ray Leonard. but when you look at this way, Tyson was 37 when he lost to Lewis and way way way off the mark and past his best. when Rahman did a job on Lewis with perhaps a lucky Punch it seems obviouse to me that Tyson in his earley twenties banging with both hands with more handspeed than Rahman and probably banging harder would have taken lewis out big time, ok I know he lost at the age of 37 buy hey so did Ali when past his prime, it comes to all of us in any sport.... A 21 year old tyson was a menace in the ring and switched and banged punches with both hands of the likes Rahman could only dream of, yet Rahamn did lewis with a single hay maker .... bill88 6
entertaining to watch but how many good american fighters did he go up against in his weight???? The two best American featherweights at the time were Tom (boom boom) Johnson, and Kevin Kelley.Tom Johnson was the reigning world champ, and Kevin Kelley highly ranked by all the governing bodie's.Hamed knocked them both out. nelson 0
Love him or hate him Hamed was a class act. When he fought Berrera he was way past his best and had a lot of issues outside the ring.Had Hamed fought him in 97 when the fight was first spoken of he'd have blasted him out of the ring inside 4 rounds. For Berrera punch resistance look under (Junior Jones) Hamed was the biggest punching featherweight in history,he had lightning reflexes,a great boxing brain, and believe it or not a good chin. The fact that he turned into a total twat is irrelevant, the guy could box and fight. gnasher16 30,118
ok Jasp, lets pretend tyson was not a cur, which lets make no mistake about,he was !...and having failed to intimidate lewis it was now a straight boxing match.....lets look at tysons career, even from the start stylistically he struggled with exceptionally tall guys, which lewis was,he also struggled with opponents with a strong jab, which lewis had.....couple this with the fact that probably the best opponent tyson faced was either a pumped up light heavyweight champ in michael spinks or an ancient larry holmes....so where are the credible opponents tyson beat and what would suggest he would have beaten a guy who stylistically he struggled with because believe me lewis was a much better fighter than mitch green and jose ribalta who he fought at 20/21 of similar lewis style and struggled with!? even douglas was not classed as a big name.....the only big names in world terms tyson faced he lost to and quit on...tyson was at his physical peak at 30 years old when he was destroyed twice by holyfield....37 is not old for a heavyweight and he was never in the fight with lewis......im not saying you are but so many brainwashed people give tyson every excuse they can,the proof is in the pudding, when he stepped up in class, for whatever reason he could not hack it,plain and simple..... shall we call this one a draw jasp or you wanna go for a split decision win Edited March 4, 2008 by gnasher16

Malt 379
Do you guys really rate Lewis that highly? The problem was, Lewis was made to look better by the fact that there was a serious lack of quality in his division at his time. In his last fight against Klitchko, I seriously think, had the fight not been stopped on cuts, he'd have lost. He looked knackered at the end of that fight, the way he was slumping down on to his stool at the end of the rounds, Klitchko looked like he was just warming up. And finaly, just to put the cat among the racing pigeons, Tyson would have beaten Lewis if the pair had met both in their prime but that's just my humble opinion. Malt,Lewis was not overated,he was a superb boxer. The man was huge, had great handspeed, and devastating power. As far as i'm concerned he ranks as one of the all time great heavyweights.I remeber when he started how the media said he had no power, then he fought Razor Ruddock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCPcA-4IQ2E...feature=related
