D.C. 34
Well, nearly finished ferreting for this season, one or possibly two more outings will see me done for this season......which has been particularly hectic for the dog! But even after an injury, she's come back well But while taking a lad out the other day, the bitch completed her best ever catch rate, least to say there were quite a few in the bag, & the Dog only missed One rabbit All day......these were just bolted rabbits....No nets or anything, on a bit of ground where the owd bunnies knew the score, I was not expecting anything special......just a bit of an outing for this lad to try his 4X4 really Just goes to show, good things happen when you least expect them too. If the bitch keeps well above the 95% mark which she did on this occaision I'll not be too grumpy Edited March 5, 2008 by D.C. Quote Link to post

whin 463
got a fast bitch in her time and not many rabbs got away all depends on the ground your ferreting , some run from warren to warren some nip from hole to hole you can never tell , i hardle bother with nets all my dogs get schooled on bolting rabs they catch quite a few but pay the price as rabbs never run straight and the land i hunt localy doesnt suit bolting , and realy im going to start netting as thyell not last at the rate i hunt on hard stony qaurry land daily at moment, when i hunted the scottish borders i netted at the start of the season as 4 or more would bolt at once but later on when you thin them out they bolted one at atime then the dogs would catch ninety per cent then if they never bolted i had strong dog ferrets who munched a rabbit, caught hundreds without nets with well schooled dogs and strong ferrets all the best Quote Link to post
