hi all, was thinking of buying a shot gun but didnt know which would be the best for shooting grouse , pigeon , rabbits , pheasants rats and etc. , without spoiling the meat , by the way i m 12 so i would like your help

Semi auto all the way.Less recoil and three shots.Get a recoil operated semi as they will cycle most things.

Hi have you give a 20g any thought they will do everything you want but not as hard hitting as a 12g

I assume you have your SGC. All of your chosen quarry could easily be taken with a decent airgun. :thumbs:

That is just so not true.

 

Sure, ammo for a 20g costs more than a 12g but it's not true that you can not shoot ducks and geese with a 20; I use a 20g Smith & Weston Semi Auto and its a bloody great gun for this type of shooting........using non-toxic loads you have to expect to spend a few quid in a box of 25, be it a 12 or 20!

20G are rubbish, i used one when i was about 10 then moved onto 12g staright away and have been using them for 7 years now.Get one if you arescared of a bit of recoil.20G have do little less recoil, but a 12G semi auto on 24gram carts has even less recoil to the extent you can shoot hundreds OF CARTRIDGES IN ONE DAY.

I was at the stage you are at only two years ago, so what i did is go to the shops and ask if you gun trial a gun e.g on clays outside(ladds gun shop in crediton). I used a 20 bore first as i thought less kick less kick and thats all i thought, but then i used both guns and the kick felt exactly the same bare to nothing, I now have a lanber o&u 12g and i shoot pigeon, rabbit, fox, squirrel, rats and the odd crow. I bought 250 nobel sport 28 grm cartriges and now i feel i made the best choice by not being a whimp. No offence to 20g. Hope this helps.

You don't say if you have yet obtained a shotgun certificate.......this is the first thing you will need before contemplating which gun to use.

Dont get a 20g.They are guns for whimps.I saw a lad of 19 using one at the clay ground once and he looked a whimp LOL.Im only 17 and have used 12g since i was 10.Get a semi auto if you are worried about recoil.
