What pellet for 30 ft/lbs air ranger ?.

Recommended Posts

Bought a Daystate Airanger yesterday, it is running at 30 ft/lbs, apparently because i have not gone power mad this should mean i have a wider choice of pellets that will group well and not deform in the barrel, so the question is, anyone with relevant knowledge of air rifles running at this power level got any help on brands of quality pellets worth me trying, rather than me buying lots on a trial and error basis. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regards MT.

Thanks for brining the subject up my air ranger is due back from daystate next week having just been altered to 35ft lbs cant wait, when I enquired about having it put up they said I could have gone a lot higher but there was only a choice of two pellets on the marketthat would take the pressure.

what are you hunting with a 30ftlber .harrier jump jets?

Nooo, tricky rabbits that have been messed with by amateurs before the land owners realise they need to get a pro in and sort their problems out for them at great expense, and where my rimmys are too likely to cause damage or harm by ricochet. It will be just yet another tool of my trade to enable me to offer customers a holistic approach to an age old problem.

16 grain logan penertraters run well at 30ftp......iv even run accupells with good results....iv got some 30 grain pellets that will run up to 80ftp i used to run them at 30ftp rifle... my rifle i use now is 18ftp and the tragectory is like a pig jumping a log with the heavy pellets...pm me if you want to try some and i'll send you some..... :big_boss:

Some really helpfull stuff here lads, thanks ever so much for your input, the other thing with this rifle as i have also mentioned on airgun bbs, is whether running at only 30 ft/lbs whether i would need/ benefit from an additional silencer ?.

Any views on this matter. :hmm:

If it's in .22 or .177 try H&N Barracuda Match.

Daisung (Korean) do a heavier FAC pellet which are ace in a Rapid Mk2 doing about 80ft/lbs.

MK 2 doing 80FTLBS lol pigs fly now do they.Back to the question try A Arms they are sound up to 40FTLBS .

The LW tubes seem to be less pellet fussy at speed, though keep an eye on groups sizes as barrel fouling can be an issue. Running a mk11 rapid at 960 with fx's(jsb variant). It's nice and flat zeroed at 50yds, and fills the gap where rf is a liabilty and 12ftlb is too stretched. Not keen on barracudas at 30ftlb myself, but some swear by them.

Depends on the silencer already fitted. Maybe a different silencer but I doubt an additional one is worth going through the hassle of modifying the rifle.

Factory fitted FAC MK2 direct from Theoben. On ticket not butchered by some amateur gunsmith. Currently chrono'd at 81.2 ft/lbs does about 13 shots per charge. Choice of ammo is Daisung Pellets in .22 and they're good up to 81.2 ft/lbs! ;)

I don't deal in hearsay.

Apologies that should read .25 not .22.

It's chrono'd at 81.2ft/lbs. That's reality. I can't make you believe it but the gun is 4 years old and has been run between 30 and 82 ft/lbs since it was picked up from the local firearms dealer.

As all the above and air rifle pellets are a lot cheaper than .17hmr or 22 I done a job the other day shot 56 rabbits with my 22 if I had my rifle then would have cost me a lot less
