Guest Woody
My freezer's are never empty...so when they start climbing the mesh when i go in the garden i know they need feeding .. ..i just pull something out the freezer and defrost it...I have 4 ferret's at the mo and they eat 3 pigeon's/or a rabbit/or a pheasant every other day..just a rough guide. For 1 ferret a pigeon will last roughly 2 day's unless it's a dog then it will be 1 day Mine get bunnie's/crow/pigeon feral and woodie/squirrel/pheasant/hare/deer/rat..etc. I never feed them dry or tinned food..but that's just my preferance.. Millet P.s if you want to feed mice give it between 4 to 8 a day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd be very wary of feeding feral pigeons, and definitely would not feed rats. ever. I'm not a big fan of the 'chuck them a carcass and leave them to it' theory. When I get a rabbit (which is rare at the moment as i have no ferreting or shooting!) I cut them into pieces, and feed a piece at a time. Like-wise with pigeons, I cut in half and feed half at a time. Has anyone got a job lot of rabbits I can take off you hands?! Quote Link to post

I'm not a big fan of the 'chuck them a carcass and leave them to it' theory. Have you ever fed them any of the above to see if it kill's your ferret's or does any harm..? because ive been doing it for the past 20yr's now and never had one fall ill or die on me yet as a result of feeding the way i do.. and every body else i know does the same.. Millet P.s for obvious reason's you never feed stuff that has been poisened.. . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Millet, Even though I've kept ferrets for years, I've only recently started giving them "air rifle kills," i.e. magpies, crows, squirrels etc. Do you gut them, or feed whole? As when in the past I've given rabbits, I gut them first..... Quote Link to post
