Recommended Posts

what twist rate are 22/250 rifles 1-12 to 1-14 is it ?

so they like lighter bullets ? say 40 to 52 grains

and because of this twist they dont handle the heavy bullets very well as the cant keep them as stayble at distance is this right ? :)

Absolutely spot on there Jaimie. The industry std is a 1 in 14" twist. Dependant on which manufacturer, you can get up to a 60 grainer to stabilise, but the golden rule when approaching heavy for twist bullets...is drive the buggers as fast as you can, pressure wise....it helps to stabilise them.

i see mate cheers. i wont be home loading for it as i wont be using the rifle that much to jusify the cost.

so factory ammo will be fine. i will try the sako and hornady ammo in 50 grain or 52 grain which ever it is.

what sort of fps does the factory ammo give out of a standard 24inch barrel ? :)

Jamie, 1:14 standard, certainly that's the Sako. It will stabilise 55gr too.

FPS-wise, you're looking at 3800-ish for 50-55gr - www.remington.com and ballistics will tell you all you need to know...

cheers mate so would the 40 grain bullets go faster then ?
