Hello from a "rather surprised" new member

Recommended Posts

Rather surprised because I've never shot a gun in my life nor ever had any wish or intention to :angel: anyway - having lived in towns all my life I've now moved to a village in Kent and my house backs on to woods. My garden is overrun with rabbits and its a right mess. I've tried "humanely trapping" them but they spurn my carrots and never go near the cages (although a neighbour told me they prefer rocket (even the rabbits round here are middle class - maybe I should try them with sun dried tomatoes as well) :wallbash:

So - after a bit of research on the net - including this forum - i am the proud owner of an Air Arms S410 classic (well i will be when it arrives from the shop - i'm a southpaw so not in stock). I'm sure I'll post again because I'm quite sure I can't hit a barn door - let alone terminate a bunny with extreme prejudice. Anyone point me in a "shooting rabbits for dummies" direction?

Set up a paper target at 25 yards and practice on that. Once ye can knock the spot in the middle out to within a slug or twos breadth, consistently, then ye ready to start pointing it at live stuff at that range.

Aim between the eye and the base of the ear, for profile shots. Inch below the base of the ear for facing away. Pretty much between the eyes for facers.

Simple as that, eh? Then all ye have to do is get within twenty five yards of the sods themselves!

That's were this " Hunting " lark kicks in :yes:

Welcome to the site! :bye: Interesting first post, :thumbs: you could do with a browse in the Air rifle section under shooting sports. Most of the guys in there will go out of their way to answer any questions, although like in any other walk of life, you'll always get the fools! Good luck with your rabbits.

best of luck "anal" :whistling::whistling::whistling:

*snigger* :laugh:

I've never touched a gun in my life. But then I grew up in a neighbourhood where they were used to hurt people not kill ravenous bunnies so I tended to avoid them.

Best of luck with it, looking forward to hearing how it goes for you :thumbs:
