just curious how long does it take you to make your own nets those of you who use your own nets , i know it may seem like pointless question but im just trying to figure something out

you folk shouldnt be so quick to judge people

just to shut you all up i can knit a 4ft 18 mesh deep shaped purse net in 20mins plus 5more to ring it and line it.

AS WITNESSED AND TIMED BY STU YOUNG ON HERE

so perhaps when a young lad says his dad can make a net in 20 mins he meens he can knit the net in 20 mins?

edited to add. and no theres nothing wrong with the quality of the nets at the end, its just after 25yrs of making them you do build up a bit of speed

Before this turns into an "I can make a purse net faster than you" type thread, unless you are making purse nets as a business venture, then i can't see the point of knitting a net in 20 minutes. Why rush? i have been making nets for over 40 years and enjoy making them as a way of relaxation......... and not trying to get into the record books. ;);)

who said anything about knitting a net in a rush?

its just a progression of a skill and i agree with you about turning this into a speed thing, but what i dont like is the way this site is becoming a place where members can satisfy their egos by bashing other members, is going to ruin this site beyond repair.

Just airing my personal opinion.......which i thought was the idea of the forum. I dont do egos or bashing other members IF your comments were directed at me :no:;) But healthy debate can only be good for the site and this differs somewhat from the verbal bashings some members do seem to delight in dishing out.

your right there rolfe no need to turn it into a member bashing thread as some seem to delight in doing

healthy debate is what its all about and why shouldnt it be? thats how they work best. as for the ego bashing bit of my post, wasnt aimed at anyone in perticular just a comment made about how this site seems to be becoming. and like you rolfe i to enjoy net making and dont see the point of rushing something you enjoy doing but like i said with yrs spent with the needles you will gain a speed if you want it or not its still there.

not wanting to sound like an old granny HAPPY KNITTING ROLFE :laugh::laugh::laugh:
