Hywel 53
Any constructive feedback Re. this is appreciated..... I'm going through the process of applying for a Shotgun Cert. and when the time comes, I'm debating on what to get The gun will be mainly used for rough shooting and firstly, I was pondering whether to go for a S/S or an O/U?? Secondly, I'm looking to spend a maximum of £400 on a second hand gun. What should I get and equally important, what should be avoided? Thanks in advance.... Quote Link to post
vincy 3
i would say go to your nearest gun shop and try a few to see what type suits you best Quote Link to post
Guest bunnykilla1
under and over more acurate but heavy side by side looks better its lighter and proberly cheaper you deside what you want Quote Link to post
Ratman2 2
Up to just a day ago I would have said side by side for rough shooting, but having tried a semi-auto for the first on Sunday for a round of sporting clays, I would now say get a semi. They are so light and easy to shoot and you could get a very good one within your budget. Quote Link to post

macberran 2
Ratman I agree but I have to say that the cleaning is something of a required art. I had one a 391 which was excellent and i cleaned methodically and I add beyond the book !! I was forever comparing notes with other auto users about misfiring and non recycling. Some had problems others didn't. Saying that a great gooose gun and pest control tool. And like you say light and easy too mount and in the right hands very accurate. Quote Link to post

The Sporting Agent 0
Hi mate, if its mainly for rough and game shooting my pref would be for a quality SS from a Spanish manufacturer given your price range. Look out for AYA's the Yeoman or No4 models; basic but decent well built very good quality guns. Been made for years to the same pattern and new today, the Yoman which is the basic model retails at give or take £1,000.00. A ten to 20 year old one in good nick with plenty of life let will set you back about 1/3 of that and will be worth as much once you have finished with it providing you look after it. Take a look at guntrader.co.uk to get an idea of specs and prices. Quote Link to post
