Mars 42
you stand around all day talking dogs, Mainly exaggarated tales about the one that got away or did`nt get away, then you have to visit the beer tent Of Course, spend loads of money on the stalls buying dog related stuff, Oh and if you can find the time you get hold of a program for the showing find out what class your dog should be in, and do some more standing around nattering, Then the judge will choose which dog he/she likes. Then more drinking, spending and nattering.!!!!!!!!!!! Yis Mars.

Guest gaia
They show lurchers Pop along and have a look, just don't take them seriously I realise they show lurchers but how do they judge them? It's not like there are breed standards like K.C. shows are there? Before you all say it I know lurchers are not a breed but a type. Do they show the dogs working? Do they show the dogs working? there purely a beauty contest, judged on "suitabillity to work" they of course can LOOK like a fine specimen, but it proves nothing to there working abillitys, its just a socialable day out with like minded folks. ps if thats really you in the pic id gladly take you along and explain the ins and outs of it

comanche 2,955
They show lurchers Pop along and have a look, just don't take them seriously Do they show the dogs working? Slike everyone says .Dogs get judged for conformation ;ie they look like they should be good ,fit doggies &physicallyup to the rigours of the hunting field..Everyone else stands about moaning about the judge ,lying or havin a laugh.Poor old judge gets some stick but the fact that the same dogs get placed over again in different shows under different judges tells the real tale ,ie some folk have a knack of choosing a sound pup ,conditioning it and showing it at its' best.Fair play to em. Lots of shows also have lurcher racing ,obedience ,high-jump etc .Not quite "showing the dogs working" but all good fun and usually only a quid or so to enter your dog and be publicly humiliated by its lack of competetive spirit! Have fun
Simoman 110
gaia, most show programs for lurchers have pairs, under 12 months, veteran under 23", over 23" etc. It proves nothing of a dogs working ability and is a beauty contest that is awarded on the judges personal choice. I enjoy the odd show (only watching) as long as they are taken with a large pinch of salt, unfortunately far too many people hold hunting the red rosette with ernest....... Go along and enjoy
