I voted no. Forum should stay open to encourage people to join by liking what they read. I would not have joined most forums I'm on if I got the feeling it was a closed club. Some may see that as a good thing :clapper::lol:

well most of the forums not open anyway is it, so why not open up the dog & ferret boards to guests as well if its going to encourage new members,

I don't think it would eliminate the antis. They will infiltrate any site in one way or another if they are that determined to get fuel for prosecutions or whatever.

Even if the forum is closed it'll never be 100% anti free, its one of the biggest hunting sites i've come across and bound to attract some negative attention. Best thing to do is make sure that posts are legal or can be backed up by evidence that they were pre ban. Just saying that pictures are pre ban will not stop people gaining the info about when the picture was taken etc.

Its a shame that we have to be so careful about what is said and in what context but the times they are a changing.

A closed forum is a victory for the antis. That's what they want. They want this place shut down. They can't get that so the next best thing is to fill us all with paranoia so we make ourselves private, and do their work for them.

No site in the world is safe. None. The sooner people realise this and police themselves the better.

No vote from me.

Well with all the bitching on here at the moment I don't think it means anything, but I say to keep it open to give the rest of the world a laugh when they've nothing better to do  and that is unfortunately how the site has gone

Thankfully there are still some genuine folk on here and without them this site would have lost a shed load more members. One thing I feel that nobody has yet explained though is the reasoning behind the growing number of posts regarding site changes, that are generated by members who haven't been here five minutes

The forum will never be a closed/private forum ?? Been there done that, most of the people wanting it to be a closed forum wouldn't be here now if it was, people who aren't in a crowd or gathering of people, wanting to learn, etc you just isolate them from everyone else and us as a hunting community...so think about it that way... Its all very well having a forum for people you know, but things get cliquey and as stated you isolate genuine people..

why should guests be aloud to view genral threads and some of the others.it doesnt take much to sign up so if you really are intrested in field sports pest control whatever you would like to call it you would take 2 minutes to sign up,Dont you think it would be wise to make the whole forum private unless your a member as then the i.p's will be logged and the antis will know to a certain extent they could be tracked, the site will be alot more safer.

We have been here before and whilst you may be well intentioned in your quest for a private forum you are a little nieve. From any security or monitoring point of view it would only make a tiny difference. There are a million and one ways of getting round this, ask the 1000's of people who have been banned for life from BBS who are back on!
