celt 1
did you see the national geographic on big cats in britain. brought over this guy form the states top tracker and hunter real deal. he looked at pictures prints kills. alll he said was dog dog dog dog dog dog dog. and the wee lad swiped in the long grass. your man said if he had swiped him it would have removed his face to the bone. they def exist its no mystery how they got there. exotic pets. got loose set free. the big puzzler is they should all have died out by now so there must be a breeding population, there are theories on hybrids and also that they are remnants of the big cats that were here naturaly and have gone undetected. there are supposed to be five in n ireland. one in glens of antrim one in the mournes and one along the border. i would not let the hardest lurchers at them if given the chance would not stand a chance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wasn't it last christmas up arund ballymoney one was seen and there was a big hunt after it, did they get it. Guest baldie
Baldie.......................no evidence , no cat   <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep , youre quite right mate, the reason they didnt attempt to dig to it or try and find it, was it was dark, and he had hit it twice, i wouldnt have gone near the feckin rockpile myself, he said there was a good bloodtrail to the pile, i believe him, but as you say, you need evidence, and to be honest, he didnt want it publicising because of the licensing implications. Guest whippet
Mate, I'd use the .308 and have a mate on standby with the .243 and a full mag and just keep on putting shots into it until it goes down. Not trying to sound like a big cat expert, I'm far from it, just exercising a bit of common sense. Happy hunting. Quote Link to post
Guest knocavoeboy
celt you are talking about the ballybogey beast. they had a choppper and sniper and still could not get it. it is still at large. i think its meant to be a lynx. and the one in the mournes was pictured by a doctor from belfast but its hard to put to scale as the pic is not great. never mind the fox calls. just here kitty kitty!! Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Dont mean to chuck a spanner in the works but-Does anybody think that IF these cats do exist ,would not one of the many foxhound packs have treed one by now,or at least seen one leave cover. Also I wouldnt have thought these cats would stand and fight a dog of any breed {as long as they wernt brought to bay with no other escape}.All wild animals first instinct is to run and hide from dogs and in the case of cats thats up a tree!
