Does the cabinet need to be bolted to the floor.It seems pretty stable without i bieng bolted to the floor but i did not know if it was any requirment.

I think the floor bolt holes are there as most new building these days are timber framed, or thermalite blocks, so fairly easy to prise off the wall.

 

Bolting down to a solid concrete floor will give good security in these cases.

 

It you fix it to a wooden floor, dont forget to think about pipework below. :doh:

I'm of the 'better to be safe than sorry' brigade, my cabinet is bolted to two walls and the floor. As others have said you can easily get away with the minimum, but I like to think if anyone is going to have a go at stealing my guns, they're going to have to work hard to get them. :thumbs:

As already said secure it as much as possible, try and put it in a corner if possible so it can be bolted to two walls

Each security check depends on a number of things like how secure the house is to start with. I know one person who has had his cabinet passed in a brick outbuilding not attatched to his house, so as said each case is different but the more secure the better :thumbs:
