whin 463
i beleive the ruanaition of all good working animals wether dog horse ferrets is breeding for show , it took man years to breed the greyhound the saluk the working terreir working ferrets but takes people a few decades or less to fech them ,im not against people looking after them i look after mines etc but show people feched alot of breeds up and i wonder if ferrets will go the same the ones i saw in the states they would not catch a rabbit in a phone box , ive took several people young ones with BASC teaching them to hunt ferret, i think and kay etc im not getting at you not my stile but these ferret rehab places alot are wankers , my sis lost her ferret kids let them out, or not shut the cage properly, the b*****ds were not going to give her them back when she told them they caught rabbits, i went up to see them got the ferret etc but to me shows should be left for crufts and let the workers be what they are all the best Quote Link to post
whin 463
ferrets play a major role in vermin control ie rabbits alot of farmers are glad for people to ferret before i moved were i am some farmers lost 8 grand in rabbit damage and they repay me by letting me do what i want on there land ,i never actualy new there were non working ferret sites a bunch of prats, unless young kids etc have them and cant travel to hunt ,i wonder what the ferret welfare rspca think of that Quote Link to post

whin 463
its like this kay for me if the ferets are fed on flesh they move on after a kill , rabbits etc , and i keep them warm and dry with a two foot sleeping box four foot run and they get out to muck about in a spare dog run , now if they were not looked after be it running dog terreir ferret , how would they repay me with years of service , i have saw ferrets dogs in sqaulor and people in this world but hey if you want good workers feed them well breed them well and treat them like champions only way , i look at what my dogs catch, ferrets, as food for me freinds family so they do me a service, now if they dont work or are no good, then a trusted pet home or a painless injection now to me thats how it goes Quote Link to post

Neal 1,873
Hi Kay, my local RSPCA animal shelter refuses to rehome ferrets to working homes where they are, "forced to go down dark holes." Also, a local paper ran a story in October 2006, presumably with "expert information" from the aforementioned RSPCA sanctuary. The story reported the large rise in ferrets in rescue centres at that time of year ie late summer/early autumn. They claimed it was due to the end of the ferreting season and thus was a way for cruel ferreters to dispose of their stock now that they had no work as it was now approaching winter! I can only presume it was written by someone who'd been playing Chinese whispers and had misheard "ferreting season" for "ferrets' season." Quote Link to post
