Guest dog on
do use put out veg for hares the nite before over in new mexico we go behind the jeep with bags of veg throw it all about and in the morning the hares are full and alot easier to catch for thepups is it the same in the uk boys

I am pretty new to the forum and this is my first post if the way whin is posting is the norm this will be my last.In my experience the hares are given every sporting chance if the dog is not up to the job then the hare gets away pups are not run on hares until they fit and ready and they are not ready until they can catch a healthy hare certainly not one that has been artificially slowed down in any way.

Read his post, he said pups, not fully grown dogs :thumbs::thumbs:

Who in their right mind would set pups on a full grown hare, I dont think I'll be on this forum long .

I once run a bitch on a hare half way through the chase she stopd lay down and gave birth to a litter of pups the bigest of pups got up and caught the hare ///this beer aint half f.ing strong///

I remember that day,the pup went on to take 3 out of 3 good dog! That was the day my old dog Dempsey killed and retreived 5 Red Stags .sold him later on for £20,000.Inan.

DOG OR STAGS if stags i might have some more for you we could go in buisnes together

If you have a good hearted dog, and let's face it, a bull cross should have a bit of heart, you'd be more likely to damage the dog than anything else if you put it on a hare unless it is 100% fit. By fit I mean that it can run beside a bike or motor at 15 to 20 miles an hour without getting distressed for 3 miles. That is starting to get fit for winter hares. Unless the dog is that fit you can blow its diaphragm, lungs and even heart if it has a long hard run, not to mention cramping up and busting its kidneys.

Not trying to put you off or anything, but ask yourself some serious questions before you put the dog on a hare. We've all run unfit dogs on hares when we started in the game, and we've all (or rather our dogs) have paid for it.
