Help wanted with old .410 Belgian proof mark

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me more about these marks on a 1930,s(I think)Belgian,Leige-marked.410? I think the 12 over "c" mark means 2 1/2 "chambers but does the "cloud" signify smokeless ,or am I on the wrong track completly?.Many thanks.

is it a s/s hammer by any chance, i have one and am told they were manufactured betweem 1924 and 1939. the mark you think is a cloud i think is a EB mark or something similar.104 is the choke i think full. the others are just indicative marks for the belgian proof house much like ours where a gun goes through a 'view' stage, provisional proof, proof and if desired special proof. my gun has nitro on it and says .410/65mm. i dont think the 12 over 'c' is chamberbut i think from memory it means the pressure it is proved to.

i hope this helps, its taken me a few years to find all that out and im still trying, can be confusing proof marks.

thanks

The "Cloud" mark signifies provisional proof....... and the obelisk on a plinth is the Liege (Belgian) proof mark as far as i am aware. I have a lovely little single folding hammer (poachers) gun of this period.
