J Darcy 5,871
I have always had an interest in Antlers, especially roe. On sunday i took a photo of a buck that has been clean for a week (saw it last week but missed with camera!), and back in november i saw a very well developed buck in velvet approx have grown. The earliest i have ever seen a dropped head was october (20th i think) and the latest was boxing day one year when i stumbled upon a youngish buck that had just dropped and was still bleeding from the pedicule.... So, whats the latest/earliest you guys have encountered such things on roe??.....JD Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
As a rule of thumb ,we dont see many bucks clean before Christmas, and see several every year still in hard antler as late as early february . They arent clean long however and ive seen some very good potential heads in velvet already, including another possible moss head or peruke but we will see .Looks to be a good buck season anyway . roedeer08 0
I had to shoot a buck on our land on the 9th February this year due to an RTA - he was still in velvet but will make a silver medal - just a pity he had to be shot as he was in a bad way! Quote Link to post
