theres to type of fens upper and lower black and brown land and the hares are so diffrent by far some dogs can run the brown but not the black :cry::cry: its dis hearting

The reason the black land is so lethal to dogs is that it is always very soft, dry or wet, it stays soft: when it's wet it's like a bog; the hares skim over the top of it but ALL dogs sink in, often up to their wrists or more: usually only the dogs that can 'float' this ground can catch on it, which is why the best Saluki types do well, but they need to have a big stride to cover that ground with the minimum of effort.

some of them saluki crosses what run down them fens like to get the hare to give up not try to kill them. very boring to watch much prefer to watch a exciting course were the dog is trying to kill rather than bore them to death. on smaller land dogs dont have the option to course the hare into submission thats why some of them fen dogs fail on smaller land.
