Larsen springs

Recommended Posts

All this talk of Larsens got me wanting to get my own up and running. Checked it over this morning and one of the springs were away, so out came the spares, bought at the game fair in the summer. Must have been made of chocolate, absoloute pieces of crap, more spring in a 6 inch nail. Gutted. :wallbash: So long and short of it, 2 new spring required, any suppliers out there come recommended? I dont want to waste any more time ordering springs on the off chance theyll do the job.

Cheers, TT.

And it might sound daft but as a general comment make sure they are on the right way round. They are compression springs and should already be under tension when the door is closed and should push the coil tighter when the lid is set, not open it out.

HI MATE ,

TRY AN EXTRA WYND ON THE SPRING .................... FIX THE SPRING TO THE DOOR WYND THE SPRING AN EXTRA FEW TIMES THEN FIX BACK ....... THAT WAY YOU WILL GET PLENTY OF TENSION

Tried swapping them round too. Honestly, they were awful, worked for the first 2 sets then were just pathetic. It was only the spring on one door that was away, and the frame bore the marks from the way they had been originaly mounted, so it was easy to replicate. Ive ordered replacements from Atlantic Stratford on Ebay, so hopefully this will cure the problem, I ll let yous know how they work out.

Cheers everyone,

I got some off ebay too and they are shite, the ends can be moved wherever you want and they stay there, no twanging back into position.

The springs I got on e-bay were great, no problem at all. Could put as much tension on them as I wanted.

If they were not not fitted correctly it would seem they were wrongly tensioned. Mine worked first class except for the subborn b*&^^""d MAGPIE's won't go into it.
