socks 32,253
can i ask a question .....markbrick and socks ...you both seem keen rabbit men and have good dogs ,,,do you like your dog to choose its runs ...e.g if its close to a hedge cover a long way off .....you wouldnt want your dog to go for it ..or would you like it to take a chance a maybe it will get it ...??????? my bitch is clever enough to know what is catchable and what isnt ... if a rabbit is close to a hedge she will go into stalk mode and try to get close enough for a catch but is it starts to go she wont bother trying to chase it as she knows it will be gone ... the same as rabbits playing hundereds of yards away ... she will watch them but not bother running all the way there knowing they will see her coming from miles off and be away on their toes .... she will however go after them if i send her on .... there is that much game where i hunt that if a dog didnt have the brain to know what was catchable and what wasnt it would be blown out 2 hours into a hunting trip .......... whin 463
being seruios with the amount of work i gave most of my dogs they should be finished , but they are still catching game on fast land , ive been very carefulll how i bred my dogs and who i got them off, i think, and feeding and known what your dog can take , my oldest bitch is 8 and still game but with one feched leg sheel only gets one hard day a week and a few lamped rabbs as i want to reproduce her , my old freind d slieght has never gave me a bad one and i brung out the best in them thats what the pleasure is about dogs getting a tool and makeing it into something good and reproducing it that is the eptimome for me mark , better than any photo etc etc ive produced three generaitions and they are breeding true to what i need , i think that is the hard part about dogs all the best Quote Link to post
