Hi mate,

Brisbane is f#cking hot as with most places in QLD, the further south you go the cooler it gets. Get Stab's opinion on this as he has recently made this exact move.

There is a massive mining boom in QLD at present and as a welder you would have little trouble finding work in the mines, prob expect to earn minimum of 80-100k a year.

i lived in oz when a was 12 i was in cairns (beautiful place) and it was red hot especially in the summer months, we traveled down the east coast to canberra, we stopped off at surfers paradise not far from brisbane and i loved it there. canberra was pretty boring but alot cooler, we must of got the worst weather there as it was cold and never stopped raining. we hoping to get out within the next 5 year.

ME AND THE MRS AND LITTLE GIRL TRAVELED ALOT OF OZ A YEAR A GO , AND WE LOVED IT.

SYDNEY, MELBOURNE, AROUND THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD (round the bottom) ADALAIDE, PERTH,.

BUT ROUND THE BOTTOM IS THE COOLIST, HOTTER THAN AN AVRAGE SUMMER IN THE UK , AND A LITTLE WARMER IN WINTER THAN OUR WINTERS, BUT THEY CAN AND DO GET FROSTS.

THE MOST GAME THAT I PERSONALY SOR WAS A COUPLE OF HUNDRED KMS OUT OF ADALAIDE, THOUSANDS OF BUNNYS, LOTTS ANND LOTTS OF HARES, ALSO FOXES ROOS AND FERRAL CATS.

ITS A GREAT COUNTRY , AND THERES SEEMS TO BE LOTS OF OPPERTUNATIES FOR SKILLED PEOPLE THAT ARE PREPARIED TO DO SOME WORK .

GOOD LUCK TO YOU , WHERE EVER YOU TRY

Qld's a beautiful place, but can get hot/humid although alot of its flooded at the moment. Inland from the coast/ Brisbane area (not far in) there are mountains that are on the cooler side (probably still hot for you guys!)

Perths not too bad especially the lower areas of WA, plenty of work. Nsw is a good spot too, altough inland gets really hot and dry. I have quite a bit of family in SA and some of the areas there are beatiful and its also not too far from the east coast.

Never been to Melbourne but have a few mates there on the mines that love it.

Prices of houses- depends what city and what sort of luxury your used to!! The prices sky-rocketed a little while back but have dropped a bit since then and are quite steady at the moment- bit of a buyers market in some states.

Have a look on real estate website if you know roughly what area, just type in your price and have a look.

Best bet come for a visit, organise to see some of us 'locals' and have a look around. Can get you plenty of work and houses in Kalgoorlie where I am but wouldnt torture you like that- its a bloody hot and dry town. (lots of pubs though)
