ghengis 4
i aint no expert but i`d say 7 months is too young to be entering a dog,its still a pup and imature the yapping is most likely due to frustration of not having gas to get at rabbit. my pup is 7 months he wont be doing anything until next season Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
Classic case of starting a pup too young! Very long slip for a 7 month old pup??? What the hell do you expect? Lay off the lamping until next season: try and get her out in the daytime: ferreting if possible: keep the hunting low key, calm and with no pressure from another dog to try and keep up. Guest ripstop
GOOD ADVICE THERE SKYCAT, I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM A FEW YEARS BACK, BUT THAT WAS DUE TO THE FACT THE DOG JACKED ON HIS FIRST NIGHT OUT,(SLIPPED HIS COLLAR AND CHASED A HARE AT 9 MONTHS OLD) SIMILAR TO OPENING UP REALLY. I KEPT HIM OFF AND THEN GAVE HIM EASY DROPPERS, INCREASING THE SLIP EVERY FEW TIMES, THEN ONTO MYXI AND THEN MYXI LAMPED AND THEN NORMAL LAMPED ON RED FILTER, THEN HE FLEW AND EVEN TOOK WINTER HARE, IT TOOK TIME, BUT WELL WORTH IT, JUST DONT RUSH THAT PUP, IM SURE IT WILL COME GOOD Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
Way too early, mate!! She is opening up because she knows she has no chance of getting at it. You could ruin a good dog there. Quote Link to post
