yes, terrys, they mentioned stuff i'd forgotten about, and stuff that was not even recordable, even stuff I'd been proved innocent for. Firearms off was advised by the local filth not to give me one. Oh rat man, not a testosterone filled normal male then?, do you fancy chavys instead?

Your best bet would be to join the BASC or the SACS, and then get them to look at your case. If your convictions are spent, and you've behaved yourself since, you would stand a good chance in getting your certificate. The local poilice might not like it, but you do have rights.

And ratman 2, what gives you the right to decide what's normal and what aint? a lot of your posts seem to be about putting people down, and telling folk what to do. If you havn't got anything constructive to add to a post, why bother replying? Get a life. :feck:

The law is quiet simple (although open to an element of interpretation)

If you are convicted of an offence and sentenced to longer than 3 years custody (whatever you serve is irrelavant its what your sentenced to that counts) then you are prohibited from having a firearm for life, if you are sentenced to between 3 months and 3 years then your prohibited for 5 years starting on your day of release

The police have to be sure you are a steady character, but again thats open to interpretaion. So unless you have been sentenced to a long stretch inside or are fresh out of prison for a shorter sentence then you should be able to get a certificate granted unless you are mentally unstable or some other such reason that deems you unsuitable!

Hi Compo

You mean something like "I got a caution for ABH in 2005" Perhaps??

I suppose it depends on the references that are given on your behalf as well  , my mates son had some health issues and had trouble getting a shotgun cert because of the pills they gave him were used for metal health problems too :o . He got it in the end but had a hard fight. ;)

this bit is not quite true.

i know lads who have never seen the inside of a prison but cant get fac or sgc.

if the person is a habitual offender then he or she has no chance of ever getting either.

i know folk who have done time inside and now have both, the licensing department like to see a long time elapse before they will even consider a grant.just over 2 years is not long enough.
