minion 29
Just thinking about the ban and wondered if people think that the Coursing and Fox hunting ban will end up the same as the badger hunting ban? Basically before 1973 (i think) it was legal to hunt badger. I suspect when the law came in people still persued them hoping that the law would be overturned? However, 35 years later the genral public and law treat badger hunting as a really serious crime. The genral public think it is cruel to hunt a badger. We all hope the hunting ban will be overturned but I dont think it will. So, 20 years from now do you think killing a hare or fox will be considered as much of a crime as killing a badger? NOT SAYING PEOPLE SHOULD HUNT BADGERS, JUST USING IT AS A REFERANCE Thought this would be an intresting topic. What do you all think? Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
absolutely spot on samward... what really sickens me is that when a man gets caught digging a badger then its automatically labelled with the badger baiting tag... IMO, thats why there is so much confusion about what an actual badger bait is... when done humanely digging badgers is no different from digging foxes... its just a shame the law cant be made to see that Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
Over the past 25 years I have noticed the police tightening the laws on badger digging filling in the loop holes and giving stiffer sentances. I suspect the same will happen with foxs and hares. When the hunting with dogs ban first came out they didnt really give it much attention, just look at the changes already! Quote Link to post

cymruguy69 5
Excuse me for my stupidity as I'm not a digging man. What is the diffrence between digging and baiting?? I know what digging is but don't know what baiting is Could some one explain?? Quote Link to post
Guest mush
a lot are still being done under the old laws which i think is to do with the fact that if the new hunting laws is over turned then they don't want all the people done under it back in court. most of the people up in court that are getting done under the new laws are private prosecutions. Now if hares lived in sets like rabbits , no mater what loopholes there were then people hunting with permission would be knackered but as it is there not. How many times has the badger laws been changed? two that i now of. Quote Link to post

porkypowell 2
We will all know what the future has in store come the next general election when only 40% of the public turned out to vote in the last election. The country sports world must hold a lot of votes I would vote for the party that promises to look after the future of the way of life of the country sports person just a thought Simon Quote Link to post

Guest oldskool
Badger baiting: - usually done by complete and utter w*nkers, where a badger is caught, then usually one or 2 or 3 dogs are released on it in a specially designed pit, where the badger cant escape. theres even storys of badgers having the teeth removed to stop the dogs getting hurt. Badger digging: - usually done by silly terriermen, where a terrier is entered into the sett and occupies tha badger with is baying, and nipping while the terrier men dig down to there dog. when they break through the dog is blocked off, usually with a graft or spade, then the badger is shot humanley. (just like fox diggin) that is one form of badger baiting the other form is when eejits that draw a badger and then let a couple of terriers or lurchers go on it whilst the individual is kicking it round the field or something similar... and then of coarse his mate is videoing the whole thing like a twat Quote Link to post
cymruguy69 5
I can understand why the law would ban digging if it was mistaken for baiting cause that is barbaric!! Surely they understand the diffrence though??? Quote Link to post
