Axholme Ferreter 0
how big is big ? i got a big hob but kills everytime so i try and find out with the jil how deep the bury is first before entering him . I've got a small Jill that does the same. I think she must sneak up on the rabbits and nail them , she doesn't often bolt the rabbits just kills them. I've got other Jills that work fine and Hobs for that matter but this one just seems to kill down all the time. She is very thorough though, I have put other ferrets down holes and they have bolted rabbits and then left the warren as if they were empty, then put her in just to check and she nails a rabbit. A bit of a pain having to dig every one with her though. I do work both Hobs and Jills, they both have their advantages but my own preference is Jills, if you are using purse nets they disturb them less and they also seem quicker more enthusiastic than the Hobs. All the best AF Quote Link to post
combatk9 0
Interesting this as my 1 year old hobs a big 'un I'll go measure and weigh 'im, ,haven't tried him yet cos he's so big....but I'm sure he's not 2 feet long Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
yeh im pretty sure mines 25 inches and the vet weighed it in at 2.2kgs which is abit overweight or so he said Quote Link to post
Guest Bigbob
Give him a try you wont know till then i prefer a good sized jill that will work all day but kill a rabbit if need be ,and then i only have to dig out the odd dead rabbit and not spend all day digging holes Quote Link to post
Lilyferret 0
Oh, he sounds really dinky for a hob. All my jills have been longer than him Quote Link to post
