lurcherman 887 13,316
Had 4 Michelins put on the motor 3 days ago, what tread should a brand new tyre be ? as had it in vw for major service very next day and he reckons the tyres are 6mm and 30% worn? my understanding was a new tyre was 9mm. The colour chalk stuff was on the Michelins so they must of been brand new. either the tread depth readers wrong or the tyres was part worn “brand new” looking tyres ? lurcherman 887 13,316
So at that rate they have worn 0.5 mm already so I’d say 2 weeks and they will be as bald as my head

Theyll be made from a harder compound so will probably do 10000 miles easy

mitre 141
Talking of tyres our youngest had part worn ones to cut down the expense that was a good few years back as they don't allow it now for safety this one tyre had wire sticking out tyre wall as it rotating round a tear started to appear over time he only got to know after a passer by in a other vehicle told him while some traffic lights it was not too short for a MOT after that cheap budget ones but as you know they do wear

Tyres should be a quick daily check before driving anywhere. So should of noticed it before the passer by did.
