Had 4 Michelins put on the motor 3 days ago, what tread should a brand new tyre be ?

as had it in vw for major service very next day and he reckons the tyres are 6mm and 30% worn?

my understanding was a new tyre was 9mm. The colour chalk stuff was on the Michelins so they must of been brand new.

either the tread depth readers wrong or the tyres was part worn “brand new” looking tyres ?

Michelin primacy 4 suv feel like I’ve been had over

Think you'll need to find the exact tyre with it's speed rating but just looked and it said 6.5mm?

So at that rate they have worn 0.5 mm already so I’d say 2 weeks and they will be as bald as my head

Less of a heavy foot Sterling Moss.

😂 They won't measure the exact depth they'll just give you to the nearest whole number , they've said 30% wear as that's what it would be if it was a standard 9mm tread ..

Theyll be made from a harder compound so will probably do 10000 miles easy

Talking of tyres our youngest had part worn ones to cut down the expense that was a good few years back as they don't  allow it now for safety this one tyre had wire sticking out  tyre wall as it rotating round  a tear started to appear over time he only got to know after a passer by in a other vehicle told him while some traffic lights it was not too short for a MOT after that cheap budget ones but as you know they do wear

You can still get part worn tyres loads of tyre places will buy in container loads .

Tyres should be a quick daily check before driving anywhere. So should of noticed it before the passer by did.

Ask him to put another tyre gauge on it .. they'll probably read different. 0.3 is only 3 sheets of A4 paper lol
