Never a truer word spoken, I quoted exactly that in a topic yonks ago, thats why the governments are welcoming them, we have become a nation of stay in ya pit, you will get a nice fat giro end of week,  eh. Sit behind ya nets and watch owd blighty go to pot,     millions fallen, in two world wars, eh, then we have the audacity to throw street parties, for the fallen,

We need the 3rd world to cover our lay abouts

When they say “create XXXXX number of jobs” I assume that’s not a net increase in available jobs. I.e., yes these are new jobs but how many jobs close down as a result of consumers now spending their money at a theme park rather than the cinema or high street?

Will it attract significant foreign investment / tourism? Or is it just redirecting the flow of commerce already here?

Frankly I’d rather see BAE set up a new typhoon factory because Turkey suddenly want 100. That’s real jobs and real GDP growth.

Let’s look at it another way, if that was left in food production it could feed 17500 people per year, every year, forever !!
It will also trap and sequester hundreds of tons of carbon and thousands of gallons of ground water as well as giving habitats to hundreds of species of wildlife…….or you could just buy candy floss for £25 so that some fat prick in America can buy another yacht ?

Proper industry doing proper things is one thing mate and I agree with you…..imho, this isn’t that, this is just totally f***ing vulgar when taken in context with the state of the country.

A 3 bed semi round there is half a million quid and the council tax is £2k a year……that place won’t be creating jobs that cover any of that……imho it’s just once again our government whoring us and our land to people who couldn’t give a f**k about us….they get rich, we loose something forever.

Same old story
