Plenty of hares around and more deer than there has ever been but the rabbits are still struggling. The past couple of years they seem to be trying to recover but they don't seem to be breeding like rabbits and replenishing their numbers.

The biggest problem we have had 'darn sarf',.. for many years,..is that once you give a farm or estate a good pasting with the dogs, ferrets, nets, traps and snares,.. plus the night shooting,..  the

Never known it as bad for rabbit numbers around me though the couple of old reclaimed pit tips I have a walk around now and then rabbits seem to be doing okay and must mostly live on the top in cover as I have not found any decent sized Warren's on these tips. On the plus side I am seeing hares more numerous than I did a few years back.

It's a bit like that round here, why is it not 5 or 6 babies though? In the past you'd see litters of younguns sat outside the warren?

Probably a result of the RHVD survivors possibly less fertile . It's got to have something to do with it. I have places I've replenished them close to villages etc . And whilst they do ok the don't branch out far . That right enough is due to the amount of predators.

Soon will be breeding rabbits for the pot again. Cant beat a few braces of rabbit in slow cooker left over night till mid day next day plenty of veg thrown in. . My grandfather told me years ago his father used to breed them for the pot. Many did back then. Be said to see the wild rabbits go like already said.

Or just go where the numbers are , crate a few up and reintroduce them on that area that once had them. Near me there's an old disused railway bank that's called ash banking. Runs from an old type pit. The bankings were lifting back in 90s warrens just went on an on.
