trigger2 3,168 Posted Sunday at 17:46 Report Share Posted Sunday at 17:46 I've not done much if any hunting the last 4 years and was wondering what lamps or touches are worth looking at. Ideally I could do with something that provides the same beam distance as the old lightforce striker. I was using a plr 500. Quote Link to post
WataWalloper 1,536 Posted Sunday at 17:51 Report Share Posted Sunday at 17:51 Depends on if you can get one with the led ones. I don’t like them personally so stick to the ole striker variable Quote Link to post
trigger2 3,168 Posted Sunday at 18:17 Author Report Share Posted Sunday at 18:17 Anyone tried these ? Quote Link to post
Luckee legs 503 Posted Sunday at 19:47 Report Share Posted Sunday at 19:47 I've no evidence or understanding why but I feel that I don't see as well using an LED. Nevertheless I use a PLR500. I miss the secondary bulb and good switch of previous clulite but it's cheap, powerful and for occasional lamping it's got a decent beam pattern and works fine. I hear there's a plr 800 which looks better and I'd be interested to hear if anyone has used the 800 3 Quote Link to post
chartpolski 25,313 Posted Sunday at 20:27 Report Share Posted Sunday at 20:27 I can’t say which is the best lamp as I haven’t used them all, but I’ve got the “old school” 240 blitz and 12v 12amp batteries for normal lamping trips; and a little cordless led type for lamping local for the odd rabbit; Covers all the bases for me . Pardus 257 Posted Sunday at 20:30 Report Share Posted Sunday at 20:30 I can see gear just fine with my LED cap lamps I use at work, for me I'd choose battery life and ergonomics over everything else. 1 Quote Link to post

Can you put up a pic of your cap lamp mate ? I’m intrigued, is it a type readily available to the public or specific to the railways ? I know some lads use a small cap lamp for opening/ closing gates, etc , here’s mine; but I’ve never seen anyone actually lamp with one. Cheers. I'm off work until next Monday mate, I'm going to Poland tomorrow until Sunday, I have two at work, think one is an Olight. I'm not sure a cap lamp will have the range to be a great lamper though but are more powerful LED will, that Robin Whyte is selling some now, the lamp that I shared on here the other year, it's an Olight. 1 Quote Link to post
