Aycliffe-Ferreter 10
Just wondering how many people train their terriers with ferrets or people who don’t and is there any point in the future because of more ferret, polecat stoat and weasel population and soon they will be killing all of the vermin. So once again England will be using dogs to hunt them like we did many years ago? Discuss. atb Edited March 30 by Aycliffe-Ferreter Edit Quote Link to post
gunter 379
What's there to discuss if someone uses a terrier for ferreting there going to break it to a ferret it's common sense is it not if you use them for digging its little odds weather they kill a ferret or not....can't see boys keeping a yard of terriers to keep the stoat weasel polecat ferret population under check either Quote Link to post
Chevy Chase 89
I doubt the government will amend the hunting with dogs act to include any of the mustelids you’ve mentioned anytime soon 1 Quote Link to post

We still had terriers before Russell started working his well bred Russell. Which he bought he didn’t create the breed. Edited April 1 by Aycliffe-Ferreter Edit Quote Link to post

fireman 11,038
Terriers were first bred as general vermin dogs and maybe used underground on badger because you can eat him and wear his coat i'd say fox control only came along with terriers as mankind settled and started to farm that bit more intensly and were used to protect livestock .Using terrier just for sport rather than a need to came along as life and leasure time got easier in general for man kind,...
