I don’t believe two seasons of work is enough to prove a dogs capabilities, but everyone has their own opinions .

i’d say you know what  you have by then mate whether they throw a descent one is another matter

I never lamped my whippet/deer/grey but she was the best daytime rabbit/ferreting dog I ever owned. She had a soft side from the deerhound and was a great companion but at the same time a fearless hunter and didn't hesitate to grab pigs if we ran into some. She had to be worked at least weekly but we usually hunted around three times a week.
