adamsfromuss 0
Hey everyone, I’ve been hunting for a while now, and one thing I’ve always struggled with is keeping my gear in top condition when traveling or storing it long-term. Ammo, optics, knives, and even hunting clothes can take a beating if not stored properly, especially with moisture and rough handling. What’s your go-to storage or packaging solution for keeping your gear safe? I’ve seen some waterproof hard cases and custom foam inserts, but I wonder if they’re worth the investment. Some people even use DIY methods like sealed plastic bins or modified toolboxes. I’ve also been looking into custom rigid boxes for better protection—seems like a good alternative for delicate gear. Anyone tried something like that? Would love to hear what works best for you guys. Any tips or specific brands you swear by?

Hmm ?I live in a high humidity environment so my deal is a bit different . But honestly I don't do anything super fancy. Just make sure guns are well oiled and get on rust as soon as I notice it. A de humidifier would probably be a good deal but honestly most of the just hang up in the gun room on the wall. Brass caded ammo is easy .can get these amoncsnse with a rubber seal for like $5 lable then .22lr 9mm ect put my ammo boxes in them. Reloads just stay in there own boxes along with load data card Foot wear..... Mink oil on leather and I just kinda wear everything else till it's too messed up to deal with. I hunt in my work boots and I'm buying a new pair every 3-4 month anyway . Optics.. can't really break them when ther just sitting in the rack on a gun but I tend to use a hard case with padding when I travel with them .
Wolfdog91 7,464
As far as stuff like my traps , steak rod holders ect. Paint dip or spray paint them with some kind of metal primer paint stuff..most people over here use Rust-Oleum brand oil based 50/50 mixed with acetone dip let dray for a day or two and it's pretty good. Color dont matter much either depending, lotta women are painting there pink and stuff now days...I mean there going under the dirt anyway lol You can also paint dip snares if you get everything just right but I usually just end up spraying paint them There's also dyeing and waxing with walnut hulls, log wood dye ,beez wax ect but that just too much hassle for me personally. Will say though take a few different cans to my coni's give them a bit of a camo job. Dang things about disappear in a trail.if you do them right Coni boxes get a good paint job to especially the parts that make direct contact with the ground Rod holder too..long story short if it's metal and goin on or in the ground it gets a good paint job with rust preventive paint cheap insurance
