Guest craftycarper
i have been thinking of this myself lately, knew someone up Friskeny way, lovely area. Nice and flat, abundance of countryside, plenty of fishing to be had . Looking on the the rightmove.co.uk site it's amazing on what you would get for your money, detached ex farmhouses with land, stables,up to six bedrooms, outbuildings, tranquility etc. For the same price this end all ye get is a 3 bedroom end terrace with a front garden big enough to fit 2 cars on and a 70 ft rear garden . Only drawback is work up there, from what i can see online my hourly rate up there is half of what i get here, that's 12,000 less a year .....i can still dream i suppose, maybe in the next five years or so it may happen..... jasper65 6
Lincolnshire is fine if you like it Flat , you can see for miles without seeing any woods or much else. I lived in a place called Walpole near Sutton Bridge for a couple of years and it wasn't for me! I like to Mooch around the woodland and meadow area's here in Norfolk.... Simoman 110
The areas around Friskney, Stickney and Boston are flat as a pancake but further north around Market Rasen is the wolds, lots of hills and beutiful. I a little further north and again the land is flat but dotted with large forests. A healthy population of game but as I previously mentioned lots of shoots so permission can be tricky. Still some cheap areas to live in and wages aren't the same as the home counties but same as many other northern and midland counties. I live in a very rural area and the land around me is teeming with hare, gamebirds, songbirds, owls and we have a small but healthy roe and fox population. The only thing that isn't common is the humble bunny............. Lincolnshire, a mecca for the hunting and wildlife enthusiast........I can see the tourism board advert now
