What happened to Sub-Cultures ?

Recommended Posts

The clothes thread got me thinking, what happened to sub-culture ?

I know you are seeing a resurgence amongst old blokes of the sub cultures of their youth but it’s not something you see with young people anymore ?…..least not in the same numbers.

What happened to mods, skins, casuals, goths, punks ?…….has anything replaced them ?

Still buy the odd thing off here when Im having a "moment" more for nostalgia than anything  80’s Casual Classics: 80s Casuals, Fila Vintage, Sergio Tacchini, Adidas Originals, Ellesse, Pretty Green.

My brother ran the skins UK website for a number of years. I went to one of the get togethers in Bristol and I was surprised how much clothes were part of the scene with skins I thought it was just doc martins, fred perry, braces and jeans but they were right into their fashion.

Like our own subculture

the goalposts were changed and moved , pubs were all gentrified , events pushed into oblivion with legalities .

seriously though , a lot of the swathe that decimated this was the internet, people’s time was just taken away with work and leisure activities squeezed with paying for essentials

what 19 year old can genuinely afford to be a mod these days ?
