To be fair the bitch I have her now , has got the ability to do abit of everything , it’s down to me not showing her why she doesn’t , she’s never seen a ferret or much of the lamp but she’s fast , clever , strong enough for everything , collie x grey to a pointer grey Iv enjoyed working her does just the job for me , apprentice is due though this summer it has to be with her turning 8 in August

Million dollar question mate Iv rattled my head over it and still not set , I’m waiting to see what dai dogs comes out with , still got my eyes and ears on to see what else is being bred ,

Seen some very good dogs over the years , buddy was a total prick who stuck with me as when he landed , he just made all of our stuff like shit in comparison . The best way to describe it is like if you were f***ing around with I. Ford focus st and a Ferrari pulled up . 

from my younger days a pal of mine had a dog called blade that was a mix of bull grey from out west and saluki whip grey . Dog was feral and nerved had a lead but was a total killer . No frills , made the whole spectrum of quarry look easy . 

another lad had an old type stag hound , deerhound grey with a bit of saluki in , funny looking rough brindle , like an oil painting but very very long in length , he was a machine as well and was the first dog I seen used on the digging and deer and could kill them himself . 

the idea that the like of dogs like that just don’t exist anymore as lurcher craft diminishes in popularity and will soon all be a distant memory fills me with a sadness I can’t describe

Imo there's still plenty of top notch lurchers terriers hounds about people always say there's not dogs about like there used to be damn right there is  and theres still plenty of like minded people that don't bred from jackers and keep decent stock and wouldn't bred from a rubbing rag decent lads keep themselves to themselves people say its a dieing sport not were I'm from there's lads everywere  keep dogs and hunt them hard I've been over to England Wales digging and all I hear is about how hot it is and you've to watch this watch that I had some brilliant days over there and felt comfortable digging away lamping them boar some crack  see tbh most lads are just scared to death to load the car up and get at it part timers lol can't be caught to much to lose all that garbage lol still men out 70 years old doing it with there grandsons   ...its a dieing sport that's mostly said by men that can't be f****d going out anyway because there done part timers wernt staying in the game either way   plenty of youngsters out plenty of men still doing it and they'll always be lurchers and terriers  that'll be every bit as good as anything was about 40 year ago just get yourself out and you'll see it

Plenty of lurchers in Cumbria decades back. Whilst the Mrs was shopping I used to drive round the Raffles estate in Carlisle just to eyeball the lurchers wandering in packs around the estate.  The good old days.

I used to wonder wtf apbt meant in ads for lurchers. But I worked it out. All prey been taken.

I was a bit slow to catch on to the true meaning.( American pit bull terrier.)

Whether blood from dogs which were bred to fight to the death should feature in a lurcher's DNA in order that it can tackle a twelve pound fox is debatable. For me bull blood spoils the shape of a lurcher and sometimes the temperament. But I accept that's my personal opinion and others are loyal fans of bull blood.
