If you're from Hull you're definitely bred tighter lol.

Medically and morally speaking, both are damaging to unborn babies, so, what's the difference? If we wanted to be objective then both should be banned.

but were talking coursing marriages so let’s ban that first

Hypothetical question, should smoking be banned, if not, in what way is it different to cousin marriages from a health perspective? Lol

I think the honourable member for Hull has explained the difference. I'm not being disrespectful but if you can't see the difference, it's your problem mate.

Lots of countries have banned cousin marriage. Lots of countries have banned the burqa. They are both medieval practices which do not belong in the modern world. They are both practices which demean women.

It's not even anti Islamic. It's just common sense.

You can't see the difference or else you would have mentioned it. Health wise what is the difference? In fact if we want to be honest, smoking is more damaging as it not only damages the unborn, it also damages the smoker and others around them.

It's funny how the human mind works, again, if we wanted to be objective, both would be banned. If the decision was made by AI, that is what it would do.

OK,  let's try another argument. Politics is the art of the possible. Pragmatically, it is possible to change the law to make it illegal to marry a cousin. It is comparatively easy to police and to prosecute. Not so smoking.

Which is what I mentioned earlier, how does that prevent premarital sex and the same problems with birth defects?

I believe it should be outlawed but I'm not really sure we are concerned about the health implications if we are being honest, we just find it repulsive.

Of course it would not prevent sex taking place.  But it would be a prosecutable offence as incest is now.

Yes, but seeing as it's the sex and not the marriage that leads to birth defects it will be next to impossible to police, unless you believe that these people don't have sex before marriage. Lol

There would be a clash of  the Islamic/Christian and legal worlds. But eventually the !egal and Christian world would win. Might take decades but its a change worth pursuing imo.
