There wasn't any as far as I was concerned. Occasionally men get stressed out on here and start gibbering. Most of us are either old timers or middle aged. So the next day it's forgotten. But for kids, constant social media is their whole life and reality. It's a f****n menace for their mental health. Especially girls. Plumping their lips, breasts and backsides is as medieval as primitive people who put rings around their necks to extend their neck length or stretch their ears or lips to look " beautiful". It's sad. Far too much pressure on kids. And the magazines, catwalk and adverts implant the idea of the perfect body. Hey society! Leave those kids alone! no stress as a kid ? no wonder you turned into a beta male liberal juk

jukel123 8,732 Posted yesterday at 08:12 Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:12 Not quite lol. But kids in the fifties had no stress because although school was a pain (literally)but there were no such things as scary exams or peer pressure or having poorer quality clothes than other kids because everybody was in the same boat. There was nothing to do in the house so you played out from morning till night. There was the baths, the picture house on Saturdays and bombed houses to explore. There were part time jobs and fights to settle differences instead of bitching on Instagram or Tik Tok. You could literally have a scrap and become friends again in seconds. I had no worries whatsoever. Enough grub, lots of friends and a feeling of belonging to the community. I have 90 odd per cent good memories of my childhood. Teenage years were a very different story.

TRUEBRIT66 1,688 Posted yesterday at 08:44 Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:44 I’m divided on this issue, one of my lads has almost certainly got Aspergers, some of his ways are strange (to me) beyond words but hes a good lad and no trouble. The other met with a girl who’s whole family are on some sort of medication for anxiety or depression and he seemed to slip into their mindset to the point he now is waiting to be tested (takes 2 years) and has almost been sectioned on a number of occasions. For us it was hard as when he lived with us he had no issues and wasn’t on medication even though he claims he just kept it under wraps. We have a wonderful Grandson and Granddaughter, and the grandson is my little hero but because he sometimes repeats the first word 7 or 8 times before he starts a sentence, they are saying he has autism. To me he’s only 4 and all he’s doing is thinking about the next word to get out, because he has legend status in my eyes and is perfect, they say I’m ignoring it. If I’m honest I do struggle with it as it feels like the slightest bit of pressure in life and people pull the mental health card, It also seems to be the next “thing” where parents use it as an excuse for bad behaviour or almost like the latest fashion statement, which takes away the seriousness of people who really do have genuine mental health issues. On a personal note I have blamed myself at times and often questioned if my attitude towards it is because I don't want to admit my parenting or genetics caused it. We are all different but I still maintain a great deal is down to lazy diagnosis, the ease to medicate and people just looking for excuses rather than solutions.

When I was 13 life changed for me and not for the better. I was sent to a reform school because I had lots of "serious" previous. Crime 1 caught shoplifting in Woolworths. . Crime 2 falling through an asbestos roof we were playing on and landing in a mill with offices which we explored and stole a few biscuits and milk and tried the handle on a safe. It was locked so we giggled and gave up. Crime 3 being found in a stolen car. It was dumped and we used it as a den. Crime 4 being excluded from school. I was sent to a grammar school. I was put in the top class where I was 11th in the first exams and went from that to the B class to last in the c class to expulsion within a year.I was "disruptive". I just didn't fit in.Crime 5 having a negative report from a probation officer. The shithouse had a wig and smoked cigars. He used to cram a bunch if us into his office ask whether we were being good boys and then f**k off for a smoke. We used to tease him and use words which rhymed with wig. Have you ever had a pet pig sir? Can you dance the Irish jig sir? One of the lads rifled through his drawers and took a load of reports and we were all blamed. So 6 months in a Catholic reform school. I was the youngest and lots of the staff were paedos of the highest order. So 6 months of defending myself as best I could from older boys and predatory staff. A f****n nightmare. But it did make me a survivor. I'm still here. Bruised and battered but still here. None of that sounds like you were bad or destined for a life in crime and no different than what most kids get up to. It does sound like your were really unlucky to keep getting caught though
