New protection dog

Recommended Posts

Got my old Mali on his last legs. I'll be looking for a replacement soon, not sure whether to got down the Herder route or back down the Mastiff route.

Anybody know of anything decent coming up?  There will be Herders around for me to choose, but I'm not sure I have the patience and time they need.

I don't know of any good Mastiff types and the Misses cant be dealing with dog aggression. Hence my leaning back to the Herder types, may be someone can prove me otherwise.

I'd take a good Lurcher that would be guaranteed to bite. My 10 year old Bull/Mali bitch is too old to take a pup from, but I would love something similar.

What makes yo concerned about dog aggression from a mastiff type.Never had any problems that way with any of mine.In fact dogs can take all sorts of liberties with my old bandog bitch I have here.Ive never once seen show any aggression.

Do you know Uncle Earl?I think he may still have a couple of pups there off Rodney's breeding.Presa/herders

This Boerboel dog looks impressive, a lad that owned an English mastiff used to come coursing with me 30 year ago, his big dog used to cover a good few mile, I was surprised for such a big dog, but these boerboels look more athletic

They do leggier ones than that. My brother has one and it is a liability. Good guard dog, but that's about it.

The Mastiff types I've had wasn't dog aggressive, but if the occasion arose, they were hard to stop.  So probably not the correct description, but they dont mind a fight.

Thank's, that's defo a line of enquiry,  I can contact him.

It's hard finding a new dog. I haven't got a lot of big dogs left in me, I'd like to make a good choice.

They're all mixed of Rodney's Herder blood and I believe J Griffs presa blood

I think I've seen them, well it was quite a while ago, in their early stages.

I've just spoken to him and he said there is still a bitch pup that he's put with a friend just to get it out and about socialising and to split it up from the one he's keeping for a bit.

Good to know.  My old Mali will be around for a while and his daughter is only 10. So I can wait for a while.
