Qbgrey 4,126
A Bulgarian bricky I was talking too said he charges £35o aday ffs. I asked the guy he does a bit for and he confirmed it. Joke money his works not even that great. Some people spend money different, nice car but eat shit food, large house shit car, some like nice clothes etc, I like a beer come the weekend and decent grub , not worried spending £1000 a month of going out you only live once. It’s the idiots who Chuck shit up thier nose, go to pub, got all the fashionable clothes ( you know the ones with tight jeans up round thier ankles) alway having tats done but thier kids are dressed in primark clothes eating processed food.living in a flat. Borr 6,232
Going to the op , I think it's highly likely the majority of the UK population leave life financially no richer than they came into it. If you take and make opportunities and aren't impeded with caring for family members or children then you have every opportunity if you're allowed to travel and have the education to allow you to work in the field paying the big bucks. There are plenty who do well and are successful. Plenty are happy if they can just live a straight forward life make ends meet raise a family. I think if you work 22 years and you rent and have two cars couple of kids and work local and maybe want to participate in a hobby or two then you could easily say that you're not likely to attain any assets of huge value. Obviously house prices fluctuate wildly on where you live , but if you can live mortgage free it's transformative, or earn enough for a mortgage not to matter. And those that inherit property will be at a distinct advantage. I think family , experiences , relationships are all equally important to succeed at but the money one makes the rest easier to perform well. Lots of financially successful people aren't always successful in other areas of their lives. I didn't watch to op video but I guess the guy is happier than he was . As most Brits seem to be when they leave lol

My dad was in a marina and didn't like it as too clicky and the costs. Bearing in mind his is just a holiday home and he lives in a house. But I've said on here before he stumbled on a plot he rents off a farmer for £25 A week. 3 other live A boards there plus my dad's so only 4 boats in total. No leccy but each plot has a water tap each and parking for 2 cars plus some land fenced off to have a garden and a few small out buildings . It's in the middle of no were and the farmer pretty much just leaves them too it. Like my dad says plots like this are dead man's shoes. If i go down this route in retirement and sell the house and buisness ect. I think I would go door knocking farms and try and offer a farmer a few quid for summat similar. Also not to far from my house is a paki tyre place we all call Taliban Tyres . He has rented out the bottom of his plot to a white kid who has fenced it off put a caravan on and moored a narrowboat, it ain't rural . But it looks a very nice little yard/plot h got. I walk the dog on the other side on towpath and I always think what a nice little gaff.

I have a decent payed job, but, with all the bills, mortgage, CSA, etc, and with the Mrs only working part-time, we are just ticking over, we can't really save a substantial amount of money. My kids won't go without and that's all that really matters. The older generation had it easier, no doubt about that. 25 year ago my parents bought a 4 bedroom new build for around 83-86k, what's that today, around 140-145k? You'll get a terrace or a run down semi for that these days. That's true mate when I bought my first terraced house in 82 after getting married I worked all the overtime I could at the pit and in six months got the the thousand pounds deposit for the terraced house that faced herringthorpe playing fields in a fairly decent area for 9 and half grand. When I tell lads who I work with i don't think they believe me how easy it was back then to buy your own house if you were a grafter. Now days lads grafting in warehouses and most factories don't stand a chance of saving for a deposit if they lived at work.

One of Wilf Waddingtons lads is like that who has got to be a multimillionaire. Old Wilf Waddington was known as the canal king of south Yorkshire .
