22 years working in the UK for nowt.

Recommended Posts

We had it easy FFS. I and all my mate that managed to buy a house struggled like f**k worked at ground works day time and shooting at night. Foxes one night skinning the next and rabbit for food with veg from the garden and own eggs, swede and kale from the farms we shot on etc etc. Used to sea fish not so much for sport but for the pot along with a few borrowed spotted ones. No central heating a beaten up old van with wired up exhaust so I could go to work. Got my own logs so we had some heat, f***ing hell it was so easy, yeah right. Laying kerbs all by hand no fork lifts graft was graft. Interest rates at 15% then the Thatcher's recession times were f***ing hard. But as times went by things did get a bit easier but you had to get though the first bit.

What I see now is young people want the latest iPhone the big TV a new car the latest buggy for the kids. Hardly see a real grafter these days and when you do they stand out a mile.

Cheers Arry

Spot on Arry. Theres some pretty vitriol interviews on the news channels with younger people blaming all the ills of this country on the older generation.

One of my Grandads finished work at 54 as he had a massive heart attack and died in his early 60's, the other fought on the beaches of Dunkirk and had his leg chopped off early in his 50's after he had a stroke and gangrene set in, he also died in his early 60's. Both worked right up until they physically couldnt, there was no benefits, PIP or disability, they lived off what my Nans could earn and cut their cloths accordingly until the pittance of a pension kicked in.

My parents had it better but it was still hard like you mentioned, there was no double glazing, central heating, freezers, even the washing machine was the size of a mini where you had to move the wet washing over to a separate spin section, things that are taken for granted now. I was pleased when my Dad retired at 58 he had worked hard all his life (from 14 which seems to be forgotten) and went without just to ensure we had a roof over our heads.

I'm still working and have done full time since I was 16, I just dont get this "you had it easier than us" attitude from younger people. Its difficult financially for them but it was for previous generation and find it strange they feel so hard done by whilst I am in awe of what my Parents and Grandparents had to endure.

I think that lads story is bang on !…..and I think that is the story of millions in the U.K. !

They ain’t all making “wrong choices” !!

See, we have this nasty little habit in the U.K. of finding a way to turn on anyone telling the truth or we try to lessen or belittle the truth they are saying……and it’s bollocks !

What we should be saying is “Yeah, he is f***ing right and it’s out of order and it’s about time it f***ing stopped !”……but we don’t, we turn on our own !
But what he is saying is a plain hard truth, you’re wasting you’re f***ing time in that gaff now…..like that lad, I love my nation and it breaks my heart to see it laid so low.

It’s like watching your childhood sweetheart who you were madly in love with turn into a crack brass and get f****d by every tramp with a fiver !
But not saying the ugly truth is just helping the c**ts doing it to us imho…..

I can only look at a few minuscule examples of how they keep finding ways to nick your money (and in doing so force people into the arms of their Shylock money lenders bosses at the banks) …….so, now a business has to have an accounts package linked to HMRC that they can nose at any time they want, what’s that ? £50 a month ?

Not content with business rates you get f**k all back for, your warehouse now has to have a dedicated bin you don’t need for £20 a month,

You have to have a policy and ticket for everything from having a slash to banging in a nail….how much is that ?

Then you have to pay into a pension you don’t want as a business (as well as your NI !)

Then when you get home, not content with taking £2k in council tax off you, you need a parking permit for your own house, £80 a year for one of the bins you already pay for

And it gos on…..and on, and on, and on

And for all this you have tent city’s, spades all over the show, your kids getting stabbed, filth and junk and degradation….everywhere !

So no, I don’t think the bloke is being dramatic….if anything he isn’t dramatic enough !

What has made it hard for youngsters around here is the total lack of social housing and high private rents. The media has bulled my home town up to be one of the best places to live. So local families kid have had to find home else where. Its all rich people dressing poor and bloody whole nut, hessian bag, gleany greenies, lezzies and poofs alternative nutters. Nearly went off on one there lol.
