Yep made  80year old. Gave the establishment something to think on whilst they tried to disarm the general public whilst we saw a rise in armed burglary and the beginning of home invasions .....

The idea of a meaningful UK castle doctrine seems like fantasy these days. And yet arguably needed more than ever. 

Most right minded people would read the facts of that case and wonder what he did wrong.

He was originally charged, and found guilty of murder and sentenced to life with a minimum of nine years . 
The charge was reduced to man slaughter on appeal on grounds of diminished responsibility,  and his sentence was reduced to five years, of which he served three.

An absolute disgrace, he should have been seen as a hero for defending himself and his home, in my opinion, but the establishment doesn’t want us to take the law into our own hands, which would be fair enough, if they meted it out fairly !

Didn't he shoot the kid in the back whilst he was fleeing? One less scumbag on the street I suppose but you can see why it was a difficult case. It's all good and well locking him up, but who's to say that the tealeaf wasn't leavng the house for backup or perhaps another weapon?

Exactly. The concept that someone who’s fleeing is no longer a threat is insane. The moment you cross the threshold you should be considered a threat until you’re out of shot or surrendered.

Its not even like these fellas were an edge case. They were career criminals from a family of criminals.

Its as mental as catching a fox at your birds and not shooting because matey is running away.

2 fully grown men(career criminals), actively took a teenage lad with them to rob the old boy( and not for the first time)...sent him in through a little window,old boy shouts down the stairs,let's off a barrel...they left the kid bleeding out then ran off  lol....if there was any honour amongst thieves/gypsies,then their own kind would of delt with the cnuts? 

The one prick even had 200,000 compo because he couldn't get a hard on after being shot...the whole case was a f***ing joke from start to finish

8 years ago near here an old bloke and his sister lived in a caravan in some woods right next to Heathrow.Local rumour was they were eccentric millionaires,they were burgled a few times.One night two blokes arrived at their caravan with zip-ties to shackle the siblings,the old guy shot one dead with a shotgun.The caravan owner was sentenced to 10 months for owning an unlicenced shotgun,nada for the dead burglar.

There was an elderly lady near a place I grew up , remote house burgled , shot said burglar with .410 , got to keep weapon, burgled again and because she shot the guy from behind she had weapons removed. That's 40yr ago. But how I remember being told it.

A deep hole filed with lime or a pig farmer ending is more preferable! However… 

If I was put in that position, I wouldn’t have called the pigs. I’d be on the blower to my mates or my brief. Truthfully, I don’t know which would be first port of call

poor lad youve seen it most likely had it happen older lads take you your going doing the donkey work normally you get collared he got worse

Funny man him. An he said he'd do the same again. Watched the documentary about him. How he took the boards out of the steps. Scared living on his own. Sad that he got jail. Cheeky b*****ds took him to court for compo if I remember rightly.

I suppose it comes down to different scenarios to use deadly force by means of a firearm. I would have no hesitation in using a firearm if I was in possession of one against a burglar entering my house wether he was fleeing or helping himself to food out of the fridge . Then there is other scenarios say using deadly force to deter trespassers on land you were keepering on for instance. Some one around pheasant coverts on a night who would also be armed i could understand the keeper using a gun to deter them though not using a gun on say a lone lamper running off wile lamping rabbits. An incident at work a wile back were another unit near ours was been burgled and the manager and a few lads went over to deter them. I thought feck that let the police deal with it and was not prepared to put myself at risk for a company that don't give a feck about you and your only a number. I agree Tony Martin should have not spent one day in prison for defending his property.
