Funny thing is you take more care of yourself when you're old. When I was young you took daft risks. I smoked and had lots of horrible jobs, like steel erecting. I remember sawing asbestos  with no mask ffs. You dont care when you're young.

Every day is precious when you get old. I still get a real bang out of life. Why would you want to kill me Goly? To save a few bob? You forget we oldies paid stamps and tax. I paid tax when I was 15 and I'm still paying it 60 years later.

People should be retired according to how well their body or mind is coping with work. Lots of blokes who have had heavy physical jobs should be retired at 60. Like they do in more civilised countries.

Great stuff, but I think it's really a post in response to relatively short retirement age that is only getting shorter. It's not as though we are any healthier, the reality is although more people might be reaching old age, a large portion of that is with poor health, is that really living? Wouldn't you sooner retire in the prime of your life and enjoy retirement closer to your peak? Of course it would never work as every individual is different, some men at 70 are fitter than people 20 years younger, but, there has to be a cut off, it would be impossible to assess people individually.

Well thats a crackin idea that is ....all the countries with the lowest life expectancy are from Africa !!!!....anything from 53 to 63 on average..........there would be floods of them coming over in their droves for a LONGER life ffs !

I seriously can't understand some folk. Would rather work to 67 and take their chances to enjoy 5-10 years of retirement before they turn in to geriatrics.

Retiring at 40 and having a good 30 years retirement whilst near their peak, no-brainer for me.

I'm 64 and feel sound so I'm going to go for a no on that. 

What I would vote for is any lazy b*****d who has spent more than 30 years (or whatever number you like) living on benefits should be euthanised. That would probably save the country as much money.

Obviously you'd say no now, but at 20 would you be more tempted? Some people are fortunate to retire early regardless but I'm talking about us bottom feeders, I'd be very tempted, retirement age 40, luxury!

I'd add yearly driving tests ,no speed cameras ,box junctions ,ect ,just get the money from a yearly driving test ,80% are cnuts on the roads ,no theory ,multiple choice rubbish ,actual on the road driving appraisal, if you fail ,the retest is big bucks! Won't be an African on the road ,no prius drivers ,caught driving with no licence, sterilised, vehicle destroyed, and cutn tattooed on your forehead, just think no more audis bm's !! Oh yeah your compulsory euthanasia is brought down to 50 years of age for you and offspring

What's the incentive for 40 years old retirement?Has to be worth it rather than just retirement with a state pension,some retire and still do nothing,you have to offer some sort of financial inducement.

That's why in reality it would never work, as you say, people wouldn't agree to living off the state pension for that amount of time. Lol
