I've thought this through, quite simple really. You are firstly anesthetized before being given a fatal dose of something. So basically, it's just like going to the hospital for a operation but the difference is you don't wake up. Lol

I'm warming to the idea. You trial it for us Goly and we'll follow suit...promise.

What's people's thoughts on mandatory euthanasia at something like 70 year old? The maths are probably way off but here's the example. We know how the elderly are a massive burden on society, more people are living to a ripe age, lifespan is increasing but our healthspan is shorter. Many people have major health setbacks several years before they eventually kick the bucket, with the large elderly population this costs billions.

My proposal, if you agree to this, say you have a working life of up to 40, 45 years old.  You have a nice retirement of 25-30 years in relatively good health. At 70, no matter your condition you agree to be euthanised?

Surely that's better than working to 67 and rising and enjoying your retirement full of ailments and disease?

I'd take the first option I really would. 😂

what a crock of shite ..

Knowing my luck I'd win the lottery at 69.

The government are working people right up to the brink of death.

I dread to think what the retirement age will be for me, I've still got over 20 years to go.

I've enjoyed retirement more than any stage in my life. It's the freedom.

Funny thing is you take more care of yourself when you're old. When I was young you took daft risks. I smoked and had lots of horrible jobs, like steel erecting. I remember sawing asbestos  with no mask ffs. You dont care when you're young.

Every day is precious when you get old. I still get a real bang out of life. Why would you want to kill me Goly? To save a few bob? You forget we oldies paid stamps and tax. I paid tax when I was 15 and I'm still paying it 60 years later.

People should be retired according to how well their body or mind is coping with work. Lots of blokes who have had heavy physical jobs should be retired at 60. Like they do in more civilised countries.

Think how much pension they can save if they stretch the men's retirement age to 70,or 70+

That will happen, it's not a question of if, just when.
