Bangersanmash 3,113 Posted Friday at 12:09 Report Share Posted Friday at 12:09 Well guys had my first shot at making some batted fish. An have to say its not gone too bad. Never had hake before but it's very nice. Nice chucky flakes. I did some bass but to be fair it was abit mushy better just shallow fried on its own or steamed. A gave my neighbour over the road some. Due to her husband having dementia she's struggling to get him too eat. She said he was in bed. But when he smelled the fish he came down stairs. She sent me an image of the buttys. Proper f****d with my head when a found out terry had dementia. Because hes such a lovely old guy used to ask me all the time how my birds were sometimes come over into the flights amazed by them. Back to the fish Mary his wife said they really enjoyed it an will be buying some hake. It's shocking that it only cost me £2.86. So how the f**k do the guys who catch it make money. It's shocking. 2 1 Quote Link to post

If he’s well enough Bangers get him back over to see your birds the memories will still be there you’ve just got to tap in and invoke them, On a course I did on the railway helping people with Alzheimer’s/ Dementia use the railway there was a discussion about how people’s memories are like a book case and that all the old books store the memories and aren’t forgotten and it’s the recent stuff the magazines papers they couldn’t remember at all, I remember visiting my grandmother in a home she had severe Alzheimer’s didn’t know who I was but called off every name in an old photograph of around the 1940s of a large family gathering, strange thing the brain, nice hake by the way bit of tartare sauce on that perfect. 2 1 Quote Link to post

It's mad you say that because his wife an our lass couldn't get him to move out of the house. They normally go to the local church for a gathering for people with dementia. But he hates his next door neighbour this woman. Calls her a f***ing bitch an wouldn't get in her car. To cut story short. A went over with terrier an said fancy a walk Terry. Straight away he came with me. Got talking about him being a lorry driver for YPO. Straight away mentioning fellas he worked with an the lorries. Mary said they've got intouch with one of his old friends from work he keeps mentioning. Like you say you just need too tap into the long memories not the short ones. But I'm glad he had the fish. Our lass makes him bakewells, scones , few other bits. But this morning he wasn't having none of it. An Normally he's great for our lass. Mary his wife will say come sort him out lol. It's hard work. A take my hat off to these that dont put them in a home. Them homes are no good. Our lasses grandmother in space of 12 month was gone. Her other grandmother stayed at home. Ended up over 4 years on meds. Some residential homes don't give a f**k. 1 Quote Link to post
