Hello guys. I hope someone could guide me in the right direction. I am a harpsichord (a musical instrument) restorer, and their mechanism includes a part called the jack, which uses a 'spring' that traditionally is a boar bristle. I have been trying to find some but on the internet they are sold very expensively (mostly from USA or China) and mixed thicknesses and quality (they can split more or less easily), mostly for brushes. The usable portion (where the split tip ends) have to be at least 2 inches long and thicker, rather than thinner. Do you know if they are easy to take from the animal? I would like to source some, so I will be very grateful if someone could provide me with information about where I can get them (apart from online shops). Thanks in advance for your help.
