Another great first post on a form where everybody's after the same thing . Then would you let somebody you have never met walk about your garden with a fire arms ? .

Far better knocking on doors and letting them see you , then will you contribute to the form after your first post ?.

Think out side the box mate

Welcome aboard Mike.

We get quite a few new members asking the same thing on their first post, it is not going to happen.  I have passed on a few perms to people I have got to know and trust them as the farmer or land owner will be playing hell with me if things do not go according to plan. I wish you well in your search but it is well worth getting a number of smaller perms so if you lose one, it is not so bad and the big ones will follow if you do the job right and get referrals. My pal and myself get all our perms nowadays by this method but of course this takes time.  Look for scruffy farms with mucky buildings as these will almost certainly have rats and feral pigeons and the owner are usually happy to get rid of those, crows can be a mighty pest to farmers who have livestock in building as the crows are keen to get onto the grain. Forget about rabbits and woodpigeon as everyone tries to get those perms including the shotgun shooters so look for where you really can help out the farmer. Rural churches can be at the mercy of feral pigeons and allotments have rabbit / rat issues so look outside the box, on odd occassions, industrial buildings can have the same issues as well.

You are just over the river from me and if I were you go out towards Paul / Spurn as there are a lot of shooters on the Beverley side and towards South Cave.

Hi all not been on for a bit forgot about posting on here to be honest lol. I have been door knocking too, to no avail at the moment. find myself looking for some permissions as I lost my old one due to him passing away so can’t even get a reference so I am trying lots of different routes like this!

I would even go help anyone out so they know how I operate and that I can be trusted, not asking to be just given permissions I will do what’s needed to prove myself 1st like shooting tests etc.

Hello Mike, its been a while but nevertheless you are back.  I tell people who are in a similar position to you to look outside the box, in other words look at a different sector assuming you are only going to use a sub 12 air rifle, these ideas may work for you.

Industrial sites can be a haven for rats and if there is a canal / stream close by, perfect for rat movement.

Allotments do get serious issues at times with rats,  feral pigeon as well as woodpigeon, not to forget rabbits.

Dock areas are full of feral pigeon which crap all over anything below their roost points.

farms with run down buildings are often places where machinery is stored and again feral pigeon make a mess the the farmers kit.

Stables can have big issues with rats but they also have a big problem with rabbits digging in the horse's fields risking a broken leg so look for them.

Golf courses can be overrun with rabbits so a phone call can prove to be fruitful.

Churches can be plaiged with pigeon droppings on the roof so a delicate word with the vicker may be a winner more so if rural location.

I have a shooting partner and we share all the farms we have and every now and then we take new guys on, I have passed on several perms to other people which have worked out for us all and I may invite you to come over the bridge for a meet, possibly shoot so we may keep you in mind for another handover when one comes up. I will let you know after I have spoken to my buddy.

Hi ye Phil thanks for the advice it’s always appreciated.
I have been trying a few places like you have mentioned allotments are tricky mainly owned by councils so permissions on these are few and far between same with docks not owned by councils but still hard to get perms on them.

I know it’s hard to get perms that’s why I have said I will undertake any assessments people would like me to do shooting test etc and I would give people all my details so I am easily traceable.
I just want a chance to prove myself as a reliable and responsible pest controller so any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to meet you and your buddy for a chat or to come shooting with you this is why I post here to hopefully meet up with people already doing control and get my name out there.

cheer Mike
